Organic agriculture is also called as biologic, ecologic bio- etc. depending on the
country.  Organic agriculture is the only alternative to the use of hazardous
chemicals and avoids their harmful effects on the environment and on human
health.

 

 What is organic (ecologic - biologic) agriculture?  
 
 Chemicals (herbicides, pesticides) used in agriculture are harmful and threat to environment.  Therefore, there is a shift towards organic agriculture by using natural soil regulators and organic fertilizers.  Organic agriculture brings back the balance
of the soil by the use of natural products and chemical free fruits and vegetables are produced.  Only natural materials are used in organic agriculture.  The natural materials used in organic agriculture are compost produced by composting waste plants, minearals and water absorbing rock particles.  Organic agriculture brings back the natural balance of the soil by eliminating the use of chemicals, growth hormones and enables the production of healthy, better tasting and longer lasting quality food.

Advantages of Natural Products Used in Organic Agriculture:

  1- Forms aggregates with sandy soils and clay converting unfertile areas to farmable land.
  2- Increases ion exchange capacity of soil.
  3- Increases water and nutrient holding capacity of soil.
  4- Enables better aeration of soil.
  5- Decreases erosion.
  6- Converts the hard soil to softer soil, enabling easier crop production and saving energy.
  7- Regulates pH of the earth.
  8- Due to darker color of the earth used in organic agriculture more heat which promotes growth is absorbed.
  9- Contains all the necessary nutrients for plant growth.
 10- Microorganisms in the earth used in organic agriculture converts the nutrients into food absorbable by plants.
